It is simply the short saying, there is no place like home (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Themes, 2016). The main protagonist, Dorothy, resides in a place that many people would be unwilling to call home. A Kansas prairie with a very great extent and dangerous cyclones, with no color or beauty.
Oz is a breathtaking world, yet Dorothy yearns to return to the bleakness of Kansas; Baum celebrates both opposing environments. There are good witches and bad witches, North and South and East and West, the first chapter mirrors the last chapter, Dorothy is disappointed by the Wizard twice. There is also a very repetitive cast to the writing.
Based on the 1900s novel entitled The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, the movie adaptation starring Judy Garland as Dorothy captured the imagination of many.
